MIDDLESBROUGH v DERBY COUNTY - PROGRAMME NOTES

Easter is here and the second worst team (behind Newcastle) in the Premier League, Derby County, visit The Riverside on Saturday afternoon.

It is Boro's first home game since 'Black Sunday' and victory is essential, although by no means guaranteed.

Derby present another massive potential banana skin and talk of opportunity seems futile whilst the bitter memory of 'Black Sunday' still lingers.

It will be tense as Boro take to the field tomorrow.

The players are most certainly on trial and should the performance not be up to the standard demanded, the mob will be calling for crucifixion. Should Boro suffer an embarrassing defeat, thirty-nine lashes will not be enough to quell the anger.

Make no mistake about it - Boro are under pressure tomorrow. Derby is an acid test. It's not THE acid test; that was Cardiff and we all know about that.

But if we do what we should do on Saturday and win, and win well, then perhaps a resurrection is on the cards?

Boro died by the hand of Cardiff and according to the Scriptures, we were buried and raised on the third match and we appeared to Jewell and then to the 24,000.

Here's hoping.
