ISRAEL v RUSSIA - ISRAEL COACH RUBBISHES THEORIES
England's hopes of Euro 2008 qualification depend on Israel securing a positive result at the weekend and the game in Tel Aviv has caused plenty of controversy.
Russia and Israel have strong sporting links, with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich a benefactor of the game in both Moscow and Tel Aviv.
Such relations has manifest talk of Israel taking it easy against their Russian counterparts but this is a theory that has been rejected out of hand by Kashtan.
The tactician insists he will be demanding maximum exertions from his players; eager to reassure the England faithful that Israel will give their all at the weekend.
"We live in Israel, most of us were born here. I'm Israeli and very proud of that," he told The Times.
"We read about irrelevant speculations. It's probably speculation to cause some kind of atmosphere that doesn't exist.
"We always retain our nationalism and pride. We expect our fans to support the national team and be proud of us. I'm sure the players are aware of that factor.
"I'm absolutely certain we will do everything we can to play positive football over these coming 90 minutes to win the game. This is the major message we are trying to get across.
"We go out there to play our best over 90 minutes, because it also serves our interests and it also serves our interests for the future. If we get a victory, that can score us a point for future FIFA rankings."
