ENGLAND v RUSSIA - BARRY BACKS YOUNG TO STICK AROUND
Ashley Young has been told to maintain his fine form for Aston Villa if he wants to stay involved in the England set-up.
Young's Villa team-mate Gareth Barry has told him the only way to keep in the frame with the national side is to continue to show manager Steve McClaren what he can do in the Barclays Premier League.
Former Watford player Young is unlikely to feature against Russia at Wembley tomorrow but Barry believes he has done enough to get another call-up from McClaren.
Barry told the club website: "If he keeps playing so well for Villa, I'm sure he'll get another call-up.
"Ash has looked right at home straight away and it certainly helped that he came into the squad on the back of a brilliant performance against Chelsea.
"Since the minute he came back for pre-season training he's been full of confidence and that can be a big thing - especially for forward players.
"He wasn't involved against Israel and he might not play tomorrow night, but the experience will have done him a lot of good.
"Like me, he'll want to be back for the trip to Russia next month. These are big important games and we all want to be involved in them.
"But to stay in the England squad you have to keep performing for your club and I'm sure Ash will keep doing that for Villa."
