PORTSMOUTH v MIDDLESBROUGH - BETTING ZONE PREVIEW
A cursory glance at the league table - Pompey in seventh and Boro in 16th - would suggest a home win is nailed on.
But scratch a little beneath the surface and odds of no better than 7/10 about Portsmouth soon start to look skinny in the extreme.
This after all is a side that's won just twice in front of their own fans and whose last league goal at Fratton Park came way back in September!
Clearly it would still take a leap of faith to tip up a Boro outfit that was awful last time out at Birmingham on Boxing Day but we believe there's a way to side with the visitors.
And that's backing giant defender David Wheater to get on the scoresheet again.
He's a huge threat at set-pieces and not just with his head as his goal against West Ham last Saturday illustrated.
Admittedly that was only his second goal in 17 Premier games this season but, as anyone who watches Boro regularly will know, he could easily have doubled that tally.
And even a record of scoring in two games out of 17 suggests the 16/1 Paddy Power offer in the anytime market is way too big.
Verdict: Portsmouth 1 Middlesbrough 1
