WHEELIES TAKE TO THE AIR

Boro fan, Twe12th Man activist and Parachute Regimental Association member Dave Dyson is making a static-line parachute jump on May 10 at Peterlee Airfield.
He will be joined by both able bodied and disabled jumpers in raising money for two excellent charities - the disabled mini bus appeal and a major national appeal to upgrade Headley Court Rehabilitation Centre in Surrey for injured troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Dave tells me they hope to raise somewhere in the region of £1000 this coming weekend on coaches he and John Donavan are running to Sunderland. But he could still do with more from you. Remember, Dave will be jumping from a few thousand feet along with some of the Wheelies.
Here's a bit more background to the appeal charities:
The disabled mini bus has taken some of Boro’s most dedicated fans to grounds all over this country and abroad. Who present in Ostrava will forget the sight of the Wheelies driving into town after an epic journey across Europe to reach Boro’s first European destination?
MDSA chairman Paddy Cronesberry is keen to get the money for their new transport whilst the present bus is still on the road. Thanks to events such as the recent Slimathon, they are now half way towards the money needed. The Slimathon piled another £7,000 into the coffers and the parachute jump can hopefully keep the ball rolling towards the eventual target of £50k.
The Teesside Branch of the Parachute Regimental Association was formed sixty years ago to help persons who are serving or who have served in The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces, or the dependents of such persons, who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress. In these days, with the struggle our troops are having in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Regimental Associations have a major role to play in helping to relieve the suffering of the soldiers and their families.
The Teesside Branch of the Parachute Regimental Association is ploughing all charity funds raised into the Headley Court Rehabilitation Centre in Surrey for injured troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.
These are very worthy causes and we hope you can help by sponsoring our volunteers in this challenging event, parachuting from 3,500 feet.
