VILLAIN OF THE WEEK 6-8-08
Peter Owen
This top of the table feature gives every fan the opportunity to kick football’s villains where it really hurts. Our expert panellists specialise in fairness and so does every fan. This is why we need your boots!
When I put the weekly nominations to our expert panellists I take into account every aspect of each incident and then form an opinion. However, opinions are exactly that and of course there are times when I will get shot down because others beg to differ.
Until the feature is up and running every Wednesday, our panellists only know of their own vote from my selection of nominations for 'Villain of the Week' and no more.
Therefore, its daggers of mystery remain mysterious until its curtains are pulled back.
Every team has their baddies. However, there are players who would kick Cinderella up the backside to beat her to the ball, as we all saw last season.
I hope to see all two footed lunges carded accordingly. If you fly through the air like a Boeing 707 and miss the player then you should be off.
Contact and intent were the boots of discretion and a few escaped last season who shouldn’t have done in my point of view because that encourages others!
Anyone who dares to suggest that diving will decline without punishment is as big a clown as Hackett because on any given day they can go down like Grand National horses.
Those who incite the refs to book a fellow player are parasites. We imported these
gestures into our game and those same yellow cards will boot that down the tunnel.
I know what makes a top ref, as do many other fans. This is why I’m
delighted that Jeff Winter and Graham Frankland are two of our expert panelists!
Respect Every Ref
Respect is slowly being strangled out of football because money has a tight grip of its throat.
The game's officials are not there to be spoken to in an abusive manner by any party and the overspill of total disrespect has even swamped the fourth officials.
Some coaches at the top of the table take the dim view that losing is the ref's fault
and it is those people in the main who are responsible for the trouble between benches.
There is only one way to deal with those who disrupt from the benches and that is a
firm warning followed by a seat in the stands if they persist. You cannot reason with
people whose attitude has already made up their minds for them.
Every referee must be their own man on the pitch because their voice of defence
is just a National Insurance number on a pay slip that needs assessing.
Keith Hackett is the face who beckons tomorrow’s refs but he hasn’t got the balls
to defend today’s officials, as the nation witnessed last season when Sir Alex Ferguson totally destroyed his one man roadshow.
The ref involved in that despicable incident, Martin Atkinson, had an excellent game but Hackett failed to support him, which is beyond all manner of respect.
This is the same Hackett who demotes a referee if they get a major decision wrong as a reminder to their duty. How pitiful you are Hackett when the chips are down.
Yes, referees make mistakes but so does every player in abundance. To bring the best out of people means encouraging them when they have
dropped a clanger because that restores their self belief and lifts their heart and game.
If you take the other road it leads to a place called disillusion. Then you lose your
own self respect and anyone with an ounce of common sense wants out.
I have never liked the FA's “Respect the Ref” campaign in its present voice because it
is old hat and clumsy. I know that description fits Hackett but it’s merely coincidental.
Therefore, I designed the voice below which allows the novice referee to share the
same stage as the elite in a collective front. That gives respect a modern day clout.
Its presence will greatly enhance this feature because the refs happen to deliver
our products and they charge us not a penny, so I have returned the compliment.
Andy Morgan, Editor of ComeOnBoro.com, has given it the thumbs up but it would be very interesting to hear other people’s opinions because they count.
What catches the eye also sells it in a big way and as it belongs to the website, it is now up to Andy to decide how, what and why.
When the Villain of the Week feature kicks off yet again, our expert panellists can at least be free of Ronaldo for a while, which I know will please Graham especially and millions of others across the country.
I bet that plaster cast on his leg dives straight into a waste bin when they cut the
bastard thing off. I just hope they use a clean chainsaw to prevent any infection.
Finally, I bet Jeff Winter answers more questions about refereeing decisions, both
in print and on Alpha 103.2 Radio, than last season by a long chalk!

You can still do this if you have a Betfair account but your overall profit will be reduced by £25.00 as you won't receive the £25.00 cashback as an existing account holder.

Here's how it's done. Just follow these simple instructions.
1. Open an account with Sky Bet .
Open an account with Betfair . It is really important that you enter the promotional code of FTB125 when prompted. This is to ensure that you receive your bonus.

Place £25.00 on the draw at 3.03 with Extrabet .
Extrabet match your first bet up to £25 so you will now have £50.00 riding on the draw.
The £25.00 matched bet will not show in your account but you can read all about how it works on the Extrabet site. It's the purple box that says '£25 FREE BET FOR NEW CUSTOMERS' on the top right hand side. Click here to visit the Extrabet site .
If you are unsure about placing these bets, please feel free to mail us or call us on 01642 223229 and we will talk you through it, no problem at all. There is no such thing as a stupid question.
You have temporarily laid out a total of £104.00 on the Standard Liege v Sampdoria match. I stress, temporarily... Now sit back, crack a beer open and enjoy the match.
4. Here's what happens at the end of the game. All winnings are paid out on the ninety minute result.
If Standard Liege win, you collect £149.87. That's £124.87 from Sky Bet plus a £25.00 cashback from Betfair .
If Sampdoria win, you collect £149.64. That's £124.64 from Betfair plus a £25.00 cashback from Betfair .
If it's a draw you collect £151.50. That's £126.50 from Extrabet plus a £25.00 cashback from Betfair .
5. This means that the worst case scenario on the Standard Liege v Sampdoria match is Sampdoria win and you make £45.64 profit. However, if Standard Liege win you make £45.87 profit and if it's a draw you make £47.50. That's a minimum profit of over 43%, a much better rate of interest that you would get at any high street bank or building society.
6. It is absolutely vital that you click on the links on this page to open the accounts with the three bookies and enter the correct bonus codes or you may not qualify for the bonuses.
Also, before you place your bets, you should check that the odds haven't changed. If they have, let us know by mail or phone us on 01642 223229 and we will rework the bet for you.

This method of betting was used very successfully during the 2006 World Cup and you can read all about how it was done right here.
We guarantee this bet
It's understandable that some people will not believe that it is possible to do this. "What's the catch?" I hear you asking. My answer to that question is that this is the fifth season that we have been publishing arbitrage bets and literally hundreds of people have profited from following the advice on these pages.
Only twice has our refund guarantee been triggered and that was when we did all the figures wrong and sent refunds out to those who had followed our advice and made a small loss.
Our refund guarantee works like this. If this bet doesn't work like we say it will and you end up out of pocket, we will refund your losses. Simple as that.
That means that you simply cannot lose on this, whatever happens and even if we messed up the numbers.
The only stipulation here is that you must click on the links on this page to be eligible for the refund guarantee, not that you'll be needing to claim anyway. Just enjoy the profit and stay posted for many more of these throughout the season.
